Interim Head of Technical

Karen Czarnota worked for me at Virani Food Products Ltd from September 2015 to March 2016 as Interim Head of Technical. The role involved day to day management of the department, dealing with customers and suppliers and preparing the site for customer and retail audits. Karen assisted in the recruitment of technologists and a Technical Manager and was able to train various staff in HACCP and BRC internal auditing further developing members of the operational and technical teams. As a member of the senior team Karen has contributed to the immediate and longer term business requirements and has supported the technical team through a period of change. Virani Food Products Ltd first employed Food Quality Consulting Ltd to carry out a serious of internal procedure audits, to support in–house resources, to better meet our customers’ and BRC’s requirements, and thereby to identify improvement opportunities within the business.

Such was the service provided however, that a brief to audit compliance to the requirements of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 5 quickly followed.

When Virani Food Products Ltd then decided to progress from a Departmental Manual to an integrated Quality and Business Management System on the Company’s network, it was quickly realised that outside professional resources would be required, and that those of Food Quality Consulting Ltd would be drawn upon once again.

The decision was an easy one. Their ability to be flexible, combined with their availability, professionalism, patience and fuss-free approach to facilitating and supporting the culture change and actions required to implement a more consolidated document management system was extremely valuable and helpful.

The project was also to require software familiarisation processes, and both the coaching and training of personnel along the way, and these different facets of the process were addressed and completed with an up beat, tenacious and conscientious demeanour.

It was quickly realised that assistance with BRC Issue 6 conversion should also be embraced within the procedural aspects of the project – thus a more practical service provision, with the review and amendment of specific business policies and procedures, was also required, and provided.

Whilst not inexpensive, nevertheless it is our opinion that the service offered by Food Quality Consulting Ltd, and their Director, Karen Czarnota, in particular, is good value for money in today’s market, not only because it offers a quick response and specific food sector expertise, but also because it provides a reliable and trustworthy additional resource to your team, whether it be located on- or off -site.

I found this course the ideal way to give me a full understanding of the BRC V6 Standard plus, by achieving a higher enough grade, qualifying me to undertake audits of it. The course was delivered over three and a half days with a multiple choice exam paper on the afternoon of day four. The combination of excellent notes, frequent exercises/case studies and pace of delivery made the course extremely enjoyable and as a result gave me the desired result from the examination.

The challenging material on the level 4 training course was translated into easy to understand information and emphasis on practical exercises and technique was invaluable for the exam.
